Which Oil
Reply #9 on : Wed January 13, 2010, 17:30:36
As I've indicated to previous commenters, it is impossible to answer a question like that without considerably more information. What type of oil you use is completely dependent upon previous maintenance history, current driving habits, geographic location, your expectations regarding oil change intervals, repair costs, vehicle life, etc.

Not sure how hold your engine is, but, chances are you could use Mobil 1 10w30. If the engine is an older model and has not seen synthetic previously, you might want to consider whether you're willing to risk potential links related to the switch to synthetic.

Check TheMotorOilSite.com for the motor oil forum which will likely be a better bet for posting your questions.

Not personally. Other users of the site may, but they may not see your comment. I would suggest posting to our sister site: TheMotorOilSite.com

I'm hoping in the near future to be able to employ a programmer to add a feature to this site where, when you select an oil from the list, you would be able to view all user oil analysis results for THAT oil - or post your own oil analysis results for THAT oil.

This would give users a much more "real world" appreciation for the ACTUAL quality of the oils they are investigating.
